“I knew that life was precious. I knew it was a gift of nature from God. And I knew it, from heart, that I would not be admired for it. But, what life was dealing me with, the pressure, the utter loss of control, it was beyond me. I only wanted to end the humility, the disregard of myself, as a person. Oh, and the people I loved the most, were blind to my agony, as if it were not visible; in the bags under my eyes, the paleness of my complexion, or the lack of appetite. When you become meaningless to the people you care for, you feel unwanted, useless. And then, you feel no need to continue living. My sentiments, exactly at that time. And I tried to attempt at taking my own life (crying), and I hate that memory…”
World suicide prevention day
Life is just like a photograph, or a precious jewel, that everybody wants to preserve, for the rest of time. But sometimes life deals you with things and situations that are beyond your control. We have heard of suicide attempts with varied reasons:
• Insufficient living resources
• Stress and anxiety
• Bad grades
• Relationship issues
And a lot many others.
In 2003, the world recognized the intense need to create a means to prevent and reduce the unusually high going rate of suicides. It was getting evident that the matters of the world were taking stronger hold upon us. The reasons behind every attempt seemed to have more emotional impact upon the person than was due.
In the society that we live in, we have undergone billions and trillions of changes, but the emotional link to a thing or a situation remains the same whatsoever. It is not just me, or you, or someone else who has gone through the stage where taking one’s life seems to be a lot easier than going through the agony of heart break or poverty.
There are so many famous and wealthy people out there in the world who tried to take their lives. They were distraught over something that was beyond their control. And while it was thus, they lacked the one thing that every living being craves; A shoulder to cry on.
Daily mail quoted, Lady Diana tried to take her life while she was expecting Prince William, all because she was distraught over Prince Charles’ behavior towards her. Walt Disney, the legendary creator of Mickey Mouse, attempted suicide, because life was becoming too overwhelming! Owen Wilson was tired of his drug addiction, and he tried to quit it by quitting life altogether! Everybody loves Oprah Winfrey, but that was nothing before her fame, and she went through a suicide attempt because she got pregnant only at the age of 14!
Along with that, world has suffered from great loss because of SUICIDE. To name a few, Robin Williams, Kurt Cobain, Alexander McQueen, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf and our very own Chester Bennington. 🙁
This suicide implantation in our minds is not just the ‘problem’ itself, but the consequences that we feel unable to face. The prospect of taking one’s life is the easy way out, but believe me, life is way more precious than that –C in three subjects, or an untimely pregnancy. It is our social responsibility, to take time to look around, and to see beyond the outlook. Life is no sugar coated candy, but it is a combination of sweet and sour, just like a hot & spicy chicken corn soup! The sharp spice of a misplaced trust will hurt your taste buds for the time being, but the sweetness of sharing your problem will ultimately be more savored.
Be brave, my dearlings, for you are my Present, and my Future. I have no care for the past. It is gone, let it be gone.
And to the society at large:
“Take a minute, change a life”
Till then, be my darlings, and keep your life at its heels! 😛
