Athena is too young for a play-date? Umm, no I don’t think so. I took bub out on a play date last week, and it was totally worth it. I have less kids around me, I mean as of Athena’s age, but I took a chance and arranged a meeting with my friend Neha and his son Aren Bhaya at Shakespeare and co at The Village Mall. As it had a nice corner for kids, not much mess around and a bit of plain area but colorful.
Right outside there are sofas arranged for mommies to have a nice hangout too (by the way I love their food, especially their scrambled eggs with mushrooms – yum)
I have grown up in an old school way, where our moms didn’t have to worry about taking us out for meetups but in a colony or same area, all kids use to play and have actual human interaction. I always wanted my kids to grow up as I did, playing, running, sweating and having actual human friends and not just bots and robots! “My personal choice, not questioning anyone :)”
So I thought it would be amazing, to take Athena out and have some fun – as I have noticed when she is around other kids; she laughs. And for that one giggle I am ready to start as early as possible. 😉
4 reasons why play-dates are important?
- Interaction with other babies. It is very important that your baby interacts with other babies. As much as we grownups has an urge to see and meet our buds, they do to. It helps in child development as suggested by studies. As early they start, they become more aware of people around them. It helps in building their confidence level too.
- Sharing is caring. Sense of sharing is extremely important. As you don’t want your child to end up a “not giver type”, because let’s face it that creates personality problems. Sharing smiles, toys and conversations can make beautiful and healthy memories, which we all know are much needed in adulthood.
- Change of environment. Sitting at home, routine can be exhausting sometimes. We all need change of air and view. Taking your bub around places can make them feel fresh, connected and inquisitive about different aspects.
- Simply because its FUN. Last but not least, haha 😀 set up a meeting because its FUN. Enjoy your time off from daily schedule and have a cuppa of coffee, while your little makes a memory of a lifetime with his/her play-mate!
