A woman with dreams can stand tall and conquer the world even in heels.
Tracing her roots from a well-reputed family of businessmen in India with a profile of seven flourishing sectors, Hema was involved in an affair with fashion. Being the eldest daughter, Hema took it as an obligation to take charge of her family stakes and aroused as the best entrepreneur her family can become proud of. Her life story from Perfume to tobacco is indeed impressive, but the deepest passion was yet to be nurtured and fulfilled.
Hema moved to Dubai when she was 15 years old. Dubai has always been a strategic location for their tobacco business. The city is where all their perfumes from multinational companies are being imported, mixed and eventually exported back to India as one of the main ingredients for their edible tobacco. With a degree in chemistry and the knowledge taught to her by her father, a seasoned perfumer, Hema now manages this process as head of operations, personally creating compounds using over 250 chemicals and sending around 20 tons of perfume for their in-house consumption alone.
Woman with visions will always step forward and accomplish her passion. Hema is married to Rahul Kaul, a fellow entrepreneur, and together they were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Even with her growing responsibilities, juggling her roles as a mother, a wife and a leader of their business, she still manages to live her dream.
Hema’s unfathomable designer was enthused by Alexander Mcqueen and Coco Chanel since forever. Whilst studying chemistry at school, Kaul was inaudibly taking a degree in fashion from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. She took every opportunity to polish herself, attending fashion shows and looking for upcoming fashion trends became Hema’s hobby.
Hidden talent started coming out of the shell, when she was sure enough that it’s the right time and the perfect place to fully feed her passion.
“I believe one should always work in a field they are passionate about. And for me, I was just waiting for my perfect moment to seize that opportunity. I’ve always been focused on our family business and then my own family, and now that my kids are growing more independent and my husband, Rahul Kaul, is also supporting me with my endeavors, I feel that it’s the perfect time to pursue my passion with a bit more gusto.”
Hema Kaul officially launched her international collection during the London Fashion Week of Spring/Summer 2014. Diverging from the fashion trend of renovation, Hema is centering her designs on innovation. Her dresses speak to women in their 20’s to 40’s who, like her, are confident to fulfill given responsibilities, but never stop seizing opportunities to become better and pursue that which they truly love.
